Professionally, Ilene Bosscher, MDiv, MA, PTC is trained in the top relationship therapies that have answers for your questions and can lead you to undestand what and how change needs to happen. She was trained in 2012 in The Gottman Method to Level 3 in Seattle, Washington with John and Julie Gottman. In 2014 She was trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy by Gail Palmer and Kenny Sanderfer in Nashville, TN. Sanderfer is the Co-author along with Sue Johnson of the book, Created for Connection, EFT Christian perspective of Sue's book, Hold Me Tight.  Nancy Akin, PhD taught her Core Skills. In 2015, she was trained by Tony and Becky Victor in Imago Relationship Therapy. She is dually licensed as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who understands relationships –what can go wrong, how to get things back on track, and restore the peace and love that defined your relationship once.

In addition to being a prominent Relationship and Family Therapist, Ilene is also a highly sought-after Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. She earned a Post Graduate Certificate in Play Therapy from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2012 and has served on the board of directors in multiple offices of the Kentucky Association for Play Therapy for 12 years and is now a Past President. She has served on the CE and Registration Committee of the international Association for Play Therapy for a decade. Play Therapy (www.a4pt.org ) is a well-respected evidence-based means of engaging and helping children more directly communicate their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. If your child is struggling with emotional or behavioral difficulties, and having trouble communicating the cause and/or nature of their struggle, play therapy may be very helpful. She sees couples and children as families, very much related in life and in therapy and is well trained in both areas. She is well trained in parent-child relationships and her default  approach to therapy is to include both parent and child in sessions.

Personally, Ilene is a mother of five grown children, nine grandchildren, and has been the wife of a busy physician. She understands multi-tasking the roles of parenting, the challenges of busy professional life, and the consequent effects on the marital relationship and family dynamics. She has also served as the President of the Greater Louisville Medical Society Alliance, and served at the state and national levels of medical alliances boards and committees. These experiences that has left her uniquely equipped to care for marriages of physicians as she and her husband met in college, married in medical school, traveled the world while her husband was active duty Army and raising their children together.
